Makes You Wonder ...

Okay - yes I stole this pic from google images to make a point!

I wonder what possesses people to think they need EVERY SINGLE ONE?  Seriously google "lip butter" and see how many arms out there with the entire collection on them you find!!  I can understand trying a new product and loving it and reviewing it on your blog.  We all do it - it's great.  But do you seriously need every single shade that product comes in?  Is it me or do they have numerous shades for different skin color combinations - not for you to actually own each one!  It's just such a waste of money.  I own ONE of these and barely use that one - I can't see having the entire collection sitting around in my bathroom.

I am not innocent in this rant.  As you can see, I have this box full of beauty box stuff.  I wonder - why do I keep getting these boxes?  Obviously I am not using it - why keep getting it - the fear of missing out?  What if the next box has awesome stuff?  No more my blog friends I am as I type this - cancelling my subscriptions.  I am throwing $25 per month away on crap that is $300 from last year.  Believe me I would rather see this box filled with 300 $1 bills then this stuff!

What are you cutting back on?

  1. I agree with you 100% about having to own every single color! I am cutting back on subscription services too, granted I was only subscribed to Birchbox, but have canceled that. I am also trying not to buy any new makeup. I've started shopping my stash on Sundays :)

    1. I got to the point where they were sitting on the table unopened forever because it got old. Maybe we should have a swap or something. I need to go through the box and figure out what the heck is even in it ... LOL

      Happy Monday!

    2. I hated getting all those fragrance samples in my boxes :( A swap would be good. I have several full size makeup items that may have been swatched a time or 2 and some that have never been open. I tried to have a blog sale with them, but that did not work well at all LOL.

    3. Yeah I tried doing a giveaway once and left like I was begging people to sign up - I mean free stuff people! I'll keep in touch. Maybe I have some stuff you want. I'll try to make a list of what's in there.

    4. I thought I was the only one that issues getting people to enter giveaways! I just had one and I think 4 entered. Anywho, that sounds good.

  3. holy moly that is alot of samples!! and i agree if it got to the point where it was a waste rather than a bonus time to get rid of the subscription and save your money on the things you really want

  4. So true about the lip butters! I have one and it just sits in my makeup drawer. Honestly, the sparkles on them get a little annoying. I digress LOL but seriously, I don't blame you for cancelling the subscriptions. I just cancelled 2 and couldn't be happier. Now I can save my money to get something I will actually USE :)

    1. Now that you mention it - something about the one I have is kinda annoying - it's not sparkly it just doesn't go on smooth. I should have been putting that stuff in the box from day one and I would have cancelled WAY sooner!

      Happy Monday!!

  5. lol I know what you mean! I signed up for birchbox last year and ended up having so much leftover crap that I never used or ever planned on using... I honestly think I held on for the excitement of getting something in the mail. Once I realized how much money I was wasting I cancelled. Not worth it!

    1. Exactly ... I would keep getting them for the excitement of maybe this month ... totally not worth it in the end. When I cancelled I like how one of the reasons you could choose was too much samples. Seems like lots of people are having this same problem.

    1. Yeah unfortunately many many MANY of those items are from Birchbox and Beauty Box. =( The samples just weren't what they were cracked up to be ... I mean how many hair oils does a girl need?? LOL

  7. I feel the same as you. I may run a 'beauty blog' but I usually like to try one or two of something and that's it, I move on. I've never wanted to buy the entire collection of something because it's just a waste and you'd never get close to using most of it up. Also, with us being on a budget I'd rather spend that money on spoiling our toddler instead.

Happy Birthday to Me!

12 Things You Need for Successful Weight Loss

1) Get your head in the game! Weight loss doesn't happen without dedication.  You have to have the mindset to get it done.  I've said in the past that motivation for me is like a light switch ... when it's on it is ON.  Even though motivation is one of the key things you need ~ you also need patience, understanding, time, and willpower.  You have to make a commitment to yourself and stick with it. 2) Track your progress! Tracking keeps you honest to yourself.  Without tracking you can sabotage yourself into overeating.  For example, tell me EVERYTHING you ate on Friday off the top of your head, not so easy right?  Also, there are tons of apps out there that you can quickly track or you can do it the old fashion way of writing it down.  Find what works for you and do it daily.  Also, as a rule I normally track my whole day in the morning.  Breakfast, Lunch, Snack & Dinner.  This also keeps me in track.  I can budget out my day and make changes if things arise or when y…

It's Okay Thursday/Hello Monday #5

... to be so productive that you "forget" to blog!

... to have tire issues on April Fool's Day and have to preface every text with ... this is NOT an April Fool's joke.

... to buy 11 items from the dollar days area at Target in an effort to get organized.  {hmmmm ... maybe a good idea for a blog post.}

... to forget to finish this post!

Hello Monday#5 It is truly amazing how much better my makeup and hair look on the weekend. So if you have never tried Starbucks Via Iced Coffee - I highly recommend. So I just watched Into the Woods over the weekend.  Why did the music sound EXACTLY like Sweeney Todd? Seriously I even googled that sh!t and came up with nothing. Why is it on weekends I am all about managing my down time  like it was my last meal or something.  Um no, I cannot do XYZ,  that is a total lack of consideration to my weekend of staying at  home and doing nothing for 48 hours straight.
How are you doing today?
