Lovely Laura Street

Image
So since I was chased by a homeless man asking for money I decided to look for an alternative route to the library and I found Laura Street...it has been revamped and it looks great!  I can't believe all this beauty is one street over.  So here are some pics of my lovely walk to the library at lunch. Slate sidewalk and beautiful trees Great architecture. I love this church! Across the street from the library is Hemming Plaza.  A lot of bums hang out over here all day and I used to walk along side it on the way to the library.  Police normally hang out near here so it's somewhat safe but now I don't have to go anywhere near it! Here's the downtown library!!  I love this library...this is the one part of Jacksonville I will miss when we move! So this is the old route - see how ugly! That upper level is the tram that basically goes no where and again...too many bums! This looks like the same pic as above right...nope further d...

Box for my Jewels

Image
So after receiving my engagement ring and especially after almost losing my diamond necklace on a daily basis I decided that I needed to get a jewelry box.  I found this at Ross for $10...... I love it.  It is mirrored glass with Damask.   Also, it's a pretty big box so room to grow into =)

See I told you...

So like I said in my A to Z post , I love old Madonna songs.  So yesterday at Target I bought this CD to listen to at work.... It has some of her newer music along with some of the great classics  ...  I'm offically old now that Madonna's music can be referred to as classic...LOL!   Some of my faves on this CD...Vogue, Into the Groove,  Express Yourself, Dress You Up & so on! Happy Monday!!

A to Z

I thought I would share some things that I love....   A ~ Audi - I absolutely love Audis and I want one but for the sake of my sanity I will not get one because if it got damaged I wouldn't be able to handle it.  I joked with Paul and said that I would have to move my office to my car because of the fear someone would ding it in the parking garage. B ~ Blogging!  I absolutely love writing my blog.  I have really been trying to step it up and put some great posts up.  I literally feel guilty when I don't blog.  If I miss a day I usually want to post an apology.  Like yesterday...no post...Shia was catching up on some sleep.  No excuse though!  My new mantra is quality posts.  I really put a lot of time and effort into each new post so I hope you enjoy! I'll even handwrite out a rough draft or an outline for a blog post if need be!  On damask paper of course...lol. C~ CK One Summer circa 2008!  I...

The end of Tuesday monotony!

Image
I hate Tuesdays! I hate Tuesdays more than Mondays! I hate Tuesday because I get home from work and realize...dang it's only TUESDAY. This past Tuesday though Paul suggested that we have a little sunset picnic at the beach. So when I got home from work we headed over to Ponte Vedra Beach. It was so peaceful. There was NO ONE there and Paul and I sat on a blanket eating our picnic dinner watching the waves and the sunset. The shells I took to remember our special Tuesday night! {sorry the pic is so blurry I guess I only picked the smallest shells on the beach}

Chasing skirt!

Image
So I saw a skirt in Self magazine, (click here to see it on Self's website) This skirt might as well be on a different planet.  There is no way to order it online and seriously the only way is to call the number listed on the article.  Call me crazy but for that kind of money it should be a lot easier to order - so I decided to search for something similar. This is what I found... It was on Target's website for $26.99 however they only had a size 2 left.  I found it on Amazon for $15 including shipping!  I can't wait to get it!

Natural Beauty

Image
So I was happy to see that the latest trend is less makeup for a more natural look.  Does that thought of less makeup frighten you?  Just the thought of not smearing foundation across your face and going out of the house without it make you cringe?  Well that used to be me but now I am here to tell you that I never fear going out without makeup anymore.  Sure you can buy all of the products that "guarantee" better skin but you still clog your pores with all of that makeup...honestly the magazine announcing this new trend gave you a 5 step process of how to make your skin have natural beauty....5 steps to be natural....really?!?  So I guess you would like for me to get on with it already and tell you my big secret.  The secret is ..... Bareminerals .  Did you just groan?  Hear me out.  I switched a little over a year ago.  I have the best complexion since well you know when you were a kid and you didn't even think of makeup and you loo...

Carrie'd Away

Image
So recently Kim Kardashian was on the cover of Glamour magazine and even though she is not my favorite Kardashian I just had to get it.  So one of the items from the shoot that they are pimping out on their website to purchase is a horseshoe necklace.  ( click here to purchase yours ) Let me just say that I had a horseshoe necklace which I wore a lot until Paul gave me my necklace which I now wear EVERYDAY - can't wear fakes over real. The purchase of this necklace was inspired by my favorite season of Sex in the City - Season 4.  Carrie wore a horseshoe necklace or several at a time through out the whole season. There were only two products that Sex in the City ever made me want to buy. 1) the horseshoe necklace and 2) Christian Dior saddle - which I actually own - A REAL ONE - hey I bought it on ebay with the matching wallet for $100....best money I ever spent and it is currently zipped up in its dust cover tucked inside another bag an...

Laptop Skin

Image
So we all know how much I love post-its especially the post-its Taller gave me for Christmas.  Well I found this laptop skin on the Vera Bradley website and couldn't pass it up. So here is the skin.  It came with instructions and a template to cut to fit smaller size laptops even a netbook.  Since my laptop is a 17" it fit perfectly without having to do any cutting.   Tada!  Here it is on my laptop. Here's what it looks like when the laptop is open and in use.  I wanted the white to be on the top when it's in use.  I just felt like this was right size up.  I love it.  It is super cute and will protect my laptop from getting scratch.  My only gripe is that this cover came in a huge box with another huge box on the inside...WASTEFUL!!!  See below........ Here's the box it was shipped in.....at least kitty is finding it useful. With this box inside...which I plan on making use of in my organized closet. ...

When we were young, my sisters and I, had this Alice in Wonderland movie that my mom had recorded off of the Disney channel, might I add...when they were running a free promotion, and we just absolutely loved it. Honestly, the movie didn't even start at the beginning she caught it when Alice had already fallen down the rabbit hole, yet we didn't care. It wasn't until like a year ago, when Paul and I frantically searched for it at Blockbuster and then found it onDemand, that I finally saw the first 10 mins of this movie. It was just one of those childhood things you would watch when you were home sick from school or lazy on a weekend. I swear we had to have watched that movie a million times.  Also, when I was in 5th grade, we read Through the Looking Glass, which is Part Two of the movie. I volunteered to bring it in to school and our teacher let us watch it in class. It was great! So now, I would like to say that I am now the proud owner of the DVD. I found it at...

I've gone literally months without this shampoo and conditioner. You know me girl proud to be on a budget wasn't going to pay full price for it since I know it goes on sale at Ulta for half off plus with the $3.50 off coupon from the sale ad it makes these liters CHEAP. You can only use one coupon at a time so I am literally swinging by on my way home each night stocking up. Paul even went to Ulta for me! I cannot stress to you enough if you have white girl fro like me you should DEFINITELY try this or heck if you just want the softest hair in the world! I know this sounds insane but I can't risk running out ever again. My hair has been so healthy since I started using All Soft (NO SPLIT ENDS PEOPLE...NONE!!) and since I was out and wasn't going to buy it full price I wasn't left with a lot of options. Drug store cheapy? Heck no! I can't undo all the greatness that has come from using it. So I ended up buying some organic shampoo and conditio...

Happy Anniversary

Image
Mad about you....Paul! Two years ago today was our first date. Sometimes it seems like it was forever ago and hard to imagine that it has only been two years. Then there are days that I am still amazed that I found him and it seems surreal. Our first date was amazing. When we met I literally thought the universe was messing with me...hello he looks just like Vin Diesel and I was totally infatuated with Vin! I remember thinking...oh this isn't going to work...Shia lives happily ever after with a Vin lookalike? NO WAY! I had been on soooooo many crappy dates before Paul that I literally kept blowing him off. It was a Sunday night and I just got blonde highlights and well I wanted to go out. So I called him as a gesture of "well at least I tried" and he was like SURE! So later that night he picked me up and we went out to the beach. We talked for hours and had a great time. We talked about everything and we were so engrossed in conversation that h...

March Madness

Image
So this month will be all about things I am "mad" about. So for today I am mad about ..... This Guess handbag!!!!!!! I recently saw a blue version at Ross and put it back. This has been on my wish list for two years!!

"Scary Movies"

Okay I couldn't let this post go to waste. I had originally wanted to post this on Halloween but trick or treating with my niece was way more important. So instead I thought I'd relate it to how scary movies aren't so scary anymore. The scary movies are just the same old story OVER and OVER again. Sure if you are young and in ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (ahem BETH) you might be scared however now there's no really edge of the seat, nail biting, clutching the pillow, holding your breath moments because they have been done so many times the same way you know what to expect. ZOMBIE I love a good zombie movie but ever notice how in all zombie movies the people are totally clueless as to what is happening. No one thinks wait those are zombies....RUN or aim for their head. Also there is ALWAYS that one person in the group that gets bit and doesn't tell everyone thinking that they are not going to change and guess what....5 to 10 mins later they are attacking the group. Good o...
