What's your Hobby??

Image
I HATE when someone asks me this question seriously it is like my biggest pet peeve "get to know you" question.  I feel like I have NEVER been able to answer this question.  Surely I have hobbies ... right?  I mean blogging is kinda a hobby...right?  See where I am going with this...LOL.   I just think I don't have a dedicated "hobby" so you know me...I googled it.  Actually I googled...list of hobbies and on notsoboringlife.com  there is a list of 238 things dubbed acceptable hobbies, here are a few that I found a little weird/funny.... #1    Aircraft Spotting Seriously this got the #1 spot??  Okay I just realized they are in ABC order… big sigh of relief!!! #8 Animals/pets/dogs How is this a hobby?  Too many and you are an animal hoarder!! #24  Bird watching #25  Birding Are these different?? #36  Bridge Building Um...hopefully not the ones I walk over or drive on! #48  Casin...

Find a Happy Place

This is how I am feeling at work today...then I remembered this post I did awhile back and I thought I would re-post it to maybe lighten my mood and possibly  feel better from your comments on HORRIBLE co-workers!! So I really need to come to grips with my work environment. Stress levels are always at an all time high here and the people just get SUPER annoying to be around. It just always seems like when one person lightens up then the baton is handed down the line to the next annoying person. So I did a quick little Google search regarding Annoying Co-workers and sadly I felt comfort in the fact that others share my same pain. According to Forbes.com you should confront the annoying co-worker and explain to them politely that whatever they are doing is interrupting your work. The example that they give is a loud talker, someone who talks on their cell phone or speaker phone and discusses their personal business. What a shocker... I sit across from a jer...

Cute and Smart Ideas

So remember this box..... It is what my laptop skin came in. So I finally found a use for it. When Marissa spent the weekend with me we bought some stuff for her to have at Auntie Circle's house to play with.  I just remembered that I also bought glow in the dark sidewalk chalk...we didn't get a chance to use it but seriously I am excited to see this stuff in action...we didn't have anything this cool when I was young.  Also, the twistable crayons in the box...genius Crayola...genius!  Okay so maybe I did some coloring too!  LOL I added her name to the box....I know she'll like this when she sees it. And she got her own little space in my closet. Okay so remember when I talked about recycling stuff from your bathroom like shampoo bottles, etc and how I was guilty of not recycling theses items as well.  Well I took this cute bag I got from a trip to Ann Taylor Loft and turned it into my recycle bin. Okay...

Am I missing something?

Image
So last Saturday while I was spending time doing laundry I watched Dirty Dancing.   First of all let me say that I can remember a time when this was on tv and my mom wouldn't let me watch it.  When I remembered that I had a chuckle.   Anywho, I really don't see what's so great about this movie and after everytime I watch it I think ... eh!  I never had that childhood/teenage crush on Patrick Swayze.  I thought he was OLD because he was compared to who I was "in love with".  So maybe that is the primary reason that I don't get all weepy and emotionally involved in the story.   Also, what's the big deal, a stuck up rich girl gets a taste of real life?  WOW! Maybe it was just before my time, I mean I really don't see what the big deal is about most 80s movies and Paul is always shocked when I haven't see these "classics".  So I guess you love what you grow up with and apparently I was too young back in the day to watch it (you know all t...

Buyer's Remorse....

Image
So as I posted before ( click here ), I bought this skirt to fulfill an obsession for another skirt.  I attempted to wear it today but then realized that I don't have a shirt that goes with it and it is more like a mint green than a blue.  I just hate when you buy something and it doesn't work or it requires hunting for the right top or the right shoes.  It makes it a hassle and forget any deal I got on this skirt if I now need to go and buy a shirt and or shoes.  I actually had a feeling that this was going to happen so I took it with me the other day on a shopping trip looking for a top and NADA.  I thought okay well a white shirt would surely go...but you know when you have a feeling like...this isn't quite right so then the entire day you just feel like you look awkward.  So needless to say my Monday morning was a wreck because I only pulled like a million shirts down out of my closet to see if they would work and then didn't eve...

Starbucks Irony

Image
{Starbucks} So as you all know, one of my bad habits is handing money over to Starbucks, as I stated in my earlier post, I have been making progress to kick this bad habit. Well good news from Starbucks….they are closing the location near my office and there will no longer be a Starbucks conveniently nearby so the irony here is 1) I've been trying to give it up and now Starbucks is helping me and 2) Starbucks has just recently released their tribute coffees and such thanking customers for 40 years of business and our location is closing. I seriously think it is because I haven’t handed over $200+ dollars a month to them for the last couple of months. I was apparently keeping the lights on over there. So long Starbucks I can’t say I will miss you. I just have so many issues with Starbucks as well. My main issue is soy milk. Sure they offer it but at a price however if you want like 5 different milk options fill up your cup to the brim for FREE! ...

Yuck - Never Again!

How often do you go to the grocery store and just throw your purse in the front of the cart?  Always right.  Well think about it...what is that part of the cart....KIDDIE SEAT!  73% of grocery cards are contaminated with bacteria from fecal matter - poop people POOP!  I know our local grocery store (Publix) offers antibacterial wipes to wipe down the cart - Shia will be wiping now before my baby (my purse of course) sits in that seat.  YUCK!!

So it's 2011....

Now that it is a new year, we're all supposed to sit back and dwell on what made last year suck and then make promises to fix it this year. Why do we give the new year such prospects of hope and opportunity? We're just so quick to sum up the past year as not so great. Don't get me wrong, you all know that I am all about setting goals and trying to constantly better my situations. But I just don't think it is fair to 2010 to just walk away from it without giving it some appreciation it deserves. Okay, so everyday of 2010 wasn't rosy but come on...good stuff happened in 2010! Of course things can always get better but don't give 2010 such a bad wrap. There was tons of fun in 2010 and tons more to be had in 2011.  How about this year instead of thinking about everything that went wrong last year and trying to fix it. let's just think about all of the things that went right and vow to make those things happen again. Like Paul and I going on vacation to N...

Really!?!

Do I really need a countdown to my birthday on my Starbucks card? Do I need to log on to add $ to my card and see exactly how much longer until that inevitable day. Yes I am old and about to get older thank you Sbux for reminding me EVERYDAY. Yes folks here comes the new year and an older Shia. Scratch that...my Sbux card is counting down to my ring. Paul and I are STILL looking for my ring. It's seriously the biggest pain in the ass ever. I think we FINALLY found it but of course there are like a million things to check to make sure. Anywho....Paul says that I will get it no later than January to which I added sure then in January will he say February. I think his feelings actually got hurt because he said....ouch why would you think that. Hello...have we met...I like to keep it real and would rather just know than to keep my hopes up for something that is never going to happen. He has reassured me that it will be on my finger in January!

Crackers are hard to swallow even with cheese!

No joke I wrote this blog on the plane....days after the last post where I dissed the South...I calmed down and then this happened.... So we're on our last flight headed to Jacksonville. I haven't been annoyed by "stupid people" until now. So we all know I have issues with people and a true part of me that hates people well I think I have narrowed it down to a deep hatred of ignorant crackers. Currently, I am surrounded by a toothless (no joke) ignorant cracker family that thinks its hilarious that "Bubba" (that was his name folks I am not making this up) has to sit next to an Indian man wearing a turban. Look crackers if you aren't prepared to enter the real world stay at home and watch that glowing talking box to see it. When are they going to break out the banjo? I'm seriously disappointed that the minute we get anywhere near Jacksonville I'm surrounded by the very ignorance that makes me hate Jacksonville. Also, it's been a week an...

Soy Bring on the Bucks

(Written on vacation) So while in New Hampshire I've seen 4 Starbucks including the 1 in the airport. As I have already mentioned this state is ran by Dunkin Donuts! Every small town has a gas station, pizza place and a Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks is nonexistent. So at the airport Paul wanted some water so I had an excuse to go to Starbucks. Hello they give out FREE filtered water people! So I decided to get a Grande Iced Coffee with soy. They didn't have sweet and low! I felt like that guy trapped in the room of cookies without milk in that milk commercial. Oh wait I jacked some from Dunkin Donuts and it's in my purse. Crisis adverted. (Yeah the sweet and low that leaked and caused airport security to freak out because of "white powder" in my purse and where's Paul oh yeah he kept walking while my bag is being hoisted in the air and a man is yelling WHO'S BAG IS THIS?!? Thank god it was Chanel and I could be happy to claim my pretty bag. It wo...

Fire Lane

Image
Have you ever notice how some people think the fire lane at the grocery store is their personal parking spot (even though the sign states TOW AWAY)? Don't get me wrong, I'm not talking about someone dropping off an elderly person, I am referring to the SUV/minivan of that person who is "just running in and out." Guess what buddy everyone is just running in and out of the grocery store. No one plans to stay forever. Every time I go to the grocery store there is a line of vehicles parked in the fire lane, so many in fact that it impossible to even maneuver around them to LEAVE the grocery store parking lot. I had a Political Science professor at the University of Florida that did a lecture on how government is a cycle and that the next step after democracy (can circles have steps...anyway you know what I mean) is anarchy. (Then it starts over again totalitarianism, dictatorship, monarch, republic, democracy and the back to anarchy and repeat.) Is this one of...

Copy Cats

Why does it seem like there are people out there that just do everything and anything that you do.  I mean wear a pink sweater and they wear a pink sweater.  Seriously though, there is such thing as coincidence (ahem Taller) but then there are people that are straight up copy cats!  Does the whole copy cat thing really speak toward a bigger issue?  Someone not happy with themselves so they try to copy someone else?  Or did they just like what you like and gave it a chance?

Parents Behaving Badly in Public

Image
What happened to the days when parents disciplined their children? No I don't mean beating them in the grocery aisle so they can be caught on camera and posted up on the news. I just mean doesn't it seem like children are just left to their own devices when it comes to discipline? Would it be so bad to tell your child that they need to stop screaming their head off in a restaurant when other people are trying to enjoy their meal that THEY are paying good money to enjoy and perhaps they are celebrating something or just need a nice evening out and now your screaming child is ruining it and guess who's fault it is? YOURS their parents. Just because you have learned to tune them out doesn't mean everyone else has. Also, I was once in the grocery store and a woman was letting her son run free and he was sticking his finger into the raw meat packages and busting them open. Honestly no lie I gave her the WTF look and she (brace yourself)....LAUGHED like it was...
