So remember that box of samples (HERE), well I am finally starting to use some of this junk stuff. Last night, I used this philosophy Pure Grace Shampoo, Bath & Shower Gel. I thought it worked really well as shampoo. It left my hair super clean and once I rinsed it out my hair didn't feel like straw ... you know the sign of bad shampoo. I did also use it as as a bath gel on a loofah ... I wasn't too impressed. It did kinda feel like washing your body with shampoo. I'm all about soaps with added moisturizers ... so not sure if the bath/shower gel option is for me. Also, it really doesn't have a smell and I like having a soap that gives you a pleasant after shower/bath smell.
Also right before I took a fabulous bath (with my fave Lush bath bomb ... Twilight), I put Ojon hair oil sample all over my scalp. I have naturally dry hair and a naturally dry scalp but over the last two weeks I really had a problem with flaking. So I thought why not also use some of the 100s of hair oil samples I have in that box.
The hair oil was a little difficult to to apply since the sample is just in a glass vile ... I found the best way to get it directly on my scalp was to stick the vile on my scalp for a drop and then rub it in. The full size product with that dropper would be perfect. If you rub it in your hands then apply it's just going to get soaked up in your roots - which is also good but I needed it on my scalp.
So I let the hair oil sit in for about 15 to 20 mins, then I used the Pure Grace to shampoo it out. The Pure Grace worked great. It removed all the oil from my hair but like I said didn't immediately dry my hair out. Then I applied my normal conditioner and now my scalp feels great!
So all in all ... pretty good lil samples. Will I buy the full size? Not sure. I might consider buying the hair oil for when my scalp gets out of control. However, I've heard Suave is making a hair oil. I need to try that before shelling out $25.
Do you use either of these products?
What do you think?
I am currently not pleased with my current conditioner for drying out my hair but I'm going to deal with it for the time being. Maybe get a spray of some sort.
ReplyDeleteI'm always very suspicious of shampoo, conditioner, body wash all in ones.

i love the philosophy line, their stuff always smells amazing! thanks for sharing your review on their grace product
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing these Shia! Most of the shampoos I've been using lately make my hair feel like a yucky straw! I will definitely try the philosophy one:)!
ReplyDeleteIt is funny because I have the opposite feeling about philosophy. I got their vanilla shampoo/body wash and feel funny using it as shampoo!
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely looking into a good hair oil too!

I've used the Ojon products and really like them alot. The restorative oil - I think it's supposed to go on your hair? I put a few drops on my hand and rub it into my palms and then wipe it through my damp hair before blow drying.
