Organizing by Recycling

So every month I receive a Birchbox ... seemed a shame to throw them away. So I came up with a use for them. Here is the top layer. Basically this is the lid portion to the box. One box contains all my eyeshadows and small  Baremineral items.  The other box contains my brushes and my Miracle Skin Translucent BB cream which I use as primer. The upper area space left from the boxes fits all my nail polish two by two. and the space in between the middle box and the back box  fits all my lip stuff and Benefit Poise Tint  and the one in the back (hard to get to)    put all my skin items  and my Finding Mr. Bright kit  (love this - post to come) So if you remove the top two boxes underneath are the bottom of the boxes... The one to the left contains all my Bareminerals face products,  foundation, warmer, mineral veil, etc, the box in the middle contains all my mascaras, eye liners, eye brow pencils, tool...

Me = Unproductive

Image
I don't often think of myself as someone that lives an over extended life.  I don't have tons of deadlines to meet -- or do I?  I do often feel like I don't have enough time to do something or I feel like I waste a lot of time especially on the weekends.  My unstructured weekend time yields unproductive time.  For example, TV can really kill my productivity.  I am constantly getting sucked in to some marathon of episodes of whatever on TV.  Also, it doesn't help that I have to DVR every show I watch to watch on the weekends when Paul isn't home.  I feel like once I have wasted a good two or three hours watching TV I then feel like well I've wasted this much time I might as well continue.  Yesterday, I started off with good intentions.  I planned to watch one movie OnDemand then go about my day of blogging.  However, I ended up literally wasting the entire day in front of the TV.  I mean I had TONS of blogging I wanted to get...

My Side of the Bed....

Image
So Paul always gripes at me because my side of the bed gets quite messy.  I clean it up and then it just gets messy again and usually doesn't take that long.  As you can see below, it can get pretty bad.... So when a co-worker gave me this (see below) for my birthday I was inspired to help this mess. When I showed this great birthday gift to Paul he said....who are you kidding that isn't big enough to tackle that mess.  Which then inspired the purchase of this (see below).  I bought it at Kohl's on sale.  YAY! Love it.  So I put my new stuff to the test.  Can it handle Shia's mess?  Will it hold all of the junk? It worked! Thanks to my birthday present and my discovery at Kohl's  Shia's side of the bed meets Paul's neat freak standards.    Kitty chilling on the bed while I clean.

New Year - New Date Book

So with the start of every new year there is that whole buying of a new calendar/date book to contend with.  Since I have a mild obsession (okay a huge obsession) with office supplies I always get a date book and then never use it.  Literally last year I found the one I bought for 2009 and it didn't have one thing written in it.  Well back in June I bought a date book (June 2010 - June 2011), and I was maintaining it pretty well.  I had work stuff organized and personal stuff organized.  Well since last month, I feel like the date book has hit a wall.  The work stuff to even write down is nonexistent.  So how do I bring my date book back up to speed?  What should I be writing in this thing?  You know me, I like to be organized, but do I need a date book haunting me to make my life feel less important that someone with a busier life.  I mean if you have 20 meetings to go to in a week, conferences with clients and deadlines for p...

Finishing Touches

My closet went from embarrassing to amazing but I felt like it needed just a tad more help.... Still a mess waiting to move itself onto the floor.. I found these at Target.  2 Fabric Drawers on sale for 10.99 (reg price 12.99) There weren't many colors to choose from and no black (unless you bought them individually for 5.99) These navy were cheaper so ahem...of course I went with these. Here's the drawer And...here's the improvement!  The stuff in the middle (workout clothes) will hopefully remain nicely folded...did you just laugh because I did.  I'm hoping that these two cubes will be okay because the drawers are too small to fit all these clothes.  So here's hoping ... also maybe I don't need 8 million pairs of workout pants....I know exactly what I was thinking too...get rid of some of it!! I actually went to Target in search for these magazine holders currently on sale for $2.50.   I bought a couple, one for bridal ...

Closet... Embarrassing to Amazing!

Image
So my closet has always gone from neat and tidy to nightmare over time.  The main issues were I had too much stuff I was never going to wear or use again in there, stuff just didn't have a proper place and constantly just wound up on the floor and there was just wasted space. Before.... Sad sad SAD sight... I know hence the fix! This shoe storage was absolutely wasted space and effort.   My shoes wind up downstairs where I put them on and take  them off so this is going to the down stairs closet. The space between these two storage compartments just screamed... stuff unwanted things here.  Which is where all my "winter" clothes wound up. Purses...really?   There are some that I wouldn't carry again if my life depended on it.   So guess what...I'm getting rid of them.   More bags...a tote full of totes... Old jeans and stuff.   I took all these pants down and eliminated the ones that  I'll ne...

TMI Tuesday

Image
As you all know I am trying to slim down hence the countless blog posts about it. So not only do I want to slim down to be healthier and to look better, I want to slim down to wear all of these below which I also was reminded that I had while battling out the organization in my walk-in closet.... Let me just start off by saying that I have an obsession with Victoria Secret Semi-Annual clearance. I never buy anything from VS until then. So last year (since the last Semi-Annual sucked and didn't yield anything new) I bought all of these for 1.99 a piece and even some smaller sizes with the hopes of slimming down. So my goal is to be able to wear all of these! Since I'm all about organization. I broke them down into stacks... Here are the ones currently too small! One day people ONE DAY! Okay below are the ones that "fit" but I need to lose just a little more... All together as you can see there are a lot but again...$1.99 each!  ...

Organization my new middle name?

Image
I had just mounds of stuff going on as you can see below. These mounds were just shoved in my closet or scattered on my side of the bed...craft stuff, blog stuff, random stuff...too much stuff!! I'm working on making my closet awesome and finding a home for writing my blog...I'll post some before and after pics soon. I'm hoping to be done with this whole mess by the end of this weekend. I had this little project to work on first. So to organize all this...     I bought these.... from Walmart. $6.00 for 3 boxes which after you set them up look like this.... AWESOME ... right? Wait until you see the finished product! I can't wait myself I'm so excited to have all of this put away and in a place where it is easily accessible. So far I have all that mess above sorted out and put in the boxes above and labeled. I just have to work out where the best place to put these boxes will be and finish up in my walk-in closet. Stay tuned!
