Reverse Clothes Hanger Trick

Image
So in case you haven't read yet, my new year's resolution is to be more organized at home. So I thought I would share with you a little trick I found online for getting rid of unwanted clothes.  It is easy enough for anyone to do, you hang all your clothes up with the hangers reversed.  Anytime you wear something, wash it, it goes back with the hanger normal.  After a few months (3 to 6 months), whatever clothes that are still on a  backwards hanger - DONATE THEM!!  I have 3 months calendared but go for 6 months if you live somewhere cold and obviously aren't going to be wearing any of your summer stuff anytime soon.   No cheating though, if you put something on from a backwards hanger and decide not to wear it, hang it back up backwards because you didn't wear it! I'll update you with my results in about three months.  I'm not expecting a tremendous amount of stuff to donate because I am pretty good about donating my unwanted clothes. ...

No more Bad Haircuts!!

Image
I'm not going to say that I just recently HAD a bad haircut but in the end it didn't turn out EXACTLY how I wanted it.  So when I found these tips on Glamour.com ( CLICK HERE  for original article) and thought I would share: 1) Discuss the feel of what you want. This is the easy part, right? You bring in pictures as examples and get into the specifics. But that's not where you should stop. You need to discuss the vibe you're going for. Long layers can be romantic or edgy, for example, and the difference all has to do with technique. So make if you're going for beachy boho, speak up—don't just say "I want to bring out my natural wave." That can be interpreted in different ways, which can lead to walking out with a cut you never intended to get. Got it? 2) Show, don't tell. I'm talking about length here. For some reason, an inch seems to be an every-changing measure of length in the hair world. So show the stylist how much you ...

Am I Wearing the Right Size Bra?

Image
So I saw an article in Real Simple magazine How to Measure your Bra Size by Rachel Shelasky and Julee A. Wilson and I thought I would share...they also have it on their website . Illustration by Jason Lee Step One:  Find your correct band size: While braless or wearing a non-padded bra, measure around the bottom of the band, directly under your bust. The measuring tape should be level and very snug. Round to the nearest whole number. If the number is even, add four inches. If it’s odd, add five. Your band size is the sum of this calculation. (So if you measured 32 inches, your band size is 36. If you measured 33 inches, your band size is 38.) Illustration by Jason Lee Step Two:  Measure your Bust: Wrap the measuring tape somewhat loosely around the fullest part of your chest (at nipple level). Round to the nearest whole number. Step Three:  Find your Cup Size: Subtract your band size from your bust measurement and refer to chart. Ex...

How to Sharpen your Memory

Image
DOODLE!!  It boosts your memory by 30%.  Basically it is thought to be effective because the act of drawing stops you from daydreaming or zoning out during lectures or meetings.  You are more likely to absorb what you hear.   I think I doodle daisies a lot or the unoriginal 3D cube.  Do you doodle?  What's your favorite doodle?

So since you all know I am a big fan of the library, I have a trick for you for getting that musty smell out of library books....Dryer Sheets!! The musty smell is eliminated and no worries the book isn't then overpowered with the smell of the dryer sheet.  Initially, you might smell the dryer sheet but after a few days the book is pretty much left smelling like nothing.  Cut the dryer sheets at the folds and you have enough for three books from one sheet.   They work great at bookmarks too!
